Surface Preparation / Product Application Guide
Dress Up Items
Our sticky backed Velcro and double sided tapes have been tested in a variety of engine bays and provide excellent adhesion even at high temperatures as long as the instructions below are followed when fitting the part(s).
Please do not attempt to apply in cold conditions as this can affect the adhesive. Before applying, please clean the surface area thoroughly with soap and water (multiple times may be required) AND then again with an alcohol based cleaner (tar & glue remover or similar). Deposits of dirt, grease and/or silicon will permanently prevent the item from sticking so thoroughly cleaning the surface area as described is essential.
Once the surface has been allowed to dry, remove any backing paper as appropriate and gently heat the Velcro/tape and the surface it is to be applied to using a hair dryer or heat gun (take care using a heat gun if near painted surfaces). This will aid the adhesive process.
The part can then be pushed into place. Once fitted, please do not immediately try to test the adhesive by attempting to remove the item as the adhesive needs up to 30 minutes to cure.
If you have any questions regarding the fitment of an item, please contact us before attempting to fit it.
Vinyls, Stickers & Gel Badges
Please do not attempt to apply in cold conditions (less than 10°C) as this can affect the adhesive. Before applying, please clean the surface area with an alcohol based cleaner (tar & glue remover or similar) and allow to dry. In most cases we include a complimentary alcohol wipe but this may not be sufficient on its own. If applying under the engine bay additional cleaning with soap and water may be required before the alcohol cleaner to remove deposits of dirt, grease and/or silicon which will permanently prevent the item from sticking.
If precision fitment is required, we recommend using masking tape to mark the area before attempting to fit.
Once the surface is clean and dry gently heat the vinyl/sticker/gel badge and the surface it is to be applied to using a hair dryer or heat gun (take care using a heat gun if near painted surfaces). This will aid the adhesive process.
If the surface is concave please apply pressure from the middle outwards when fitting.
Once fitted, please do not immediately try to test the adhesive by attempting to remove the item as the adhesive needs up to 30 minutes to cure.
