Prior to 2019/2020, Ford were fitting 1.0 ecoboost engines to Mk3.5 Focus and Mk7.5 / Mk8 Fiesta vehicles. Whilst some of these cars were fitted with an engine cover from factory, it was made from a foam plastic which was not suitable for painting.
Due to this, we developed an engine cover to be sold in our usual range of gloss plastic finishes and vehicle paint colours as a custom order. In contrast to all our other engine covers, we discovered that these parts were distorting slightly if they were left on when the vehicle was running. This was due to the unfortunate placement of the turbo on these particular engines (right in front of the engine cover with air from the front of the car blowing the hot air straight over the cover). As such these covers are now sold as "Show Only" but fitment of them has been tweaked to ensure they can be installed/removed within a matter of minutes. Check out these engine bay covers.
We would like to reiterate that these 'Show Only' parts are the only covers that are affected by engine temperatures (under normal driving conditions). All others are safe to leave on the vehicle when driving (excluding race track use). We are hoping to develop a newer version of these covers which can be left on the vehicles in the future.
In 2019, Ford launched a new 1.0 engine which we will refer to as the 1.0 Mild Hybrid (MHEV). These engines have been fitted to Mk8 / 8.5 Fiesta, Mk2 / 2.5 Puma and Mk4 / 4.5 Focus vehicles. During this time Ford have (seemingly at random) decided to fit these engines with one of two different engine covers from factory - or more recently no engine cover at all! If you purchased your vehicle second hand, please double check that a factory cover has definitely never been fitted - please feel free to send us a photo of your engine bay if you are unsure.
After developing the cover above we quickly became aware that many of these (brand new) vehicles have already been recalled by Ford (issue relating to fuel lines). The cover is now trimmed accordingly to ensure it will fit both pre and post recall vehicles.
